The University of Toledo R. A. Stranahan Arboretum has a full array of micro-environments within its 47 acres. Besides the outstanding collection of rare and interesting trees from all over the world, the Arboretum also has a restored prairie, a wetland area, a pond, a ravine (probably formed by an ancient glacial seep), and new and old growth forest areas. The entire facility is located within the "Oak Openings" sand dune region.
