Graduate Programs

Master of Science

The curriculum (pdf) leading to a master's degree usually takes between two and two and a half years.  Application information is available from the UT Graduate School. The first year involves identifying a major professor, taking course work and beginning the thesis research project. In the second year the student focuses on completion of the research project. Almost all of our M.S. graduate students receive tuition waivers and a modest stidpend for which they teach one or two laboratory sessions a week to undergraduate students. All recent M.S. graduates have landed excellent research positions in industry including Procter and Gamble, Pfizer, Pharmacia, Abbott Labs and Glaxo-Smith-Kline.
