Undergraduate Student News

  • Two students from Salford University in England arrived on campus for Fall 2007-Spring 2008 exchange. UT students (Tenacious II) will leave for Salford University in September 9, 2007. For more information on this exchange program visit the UT-Salford Exchange Program website. (posted August 2007) 
  • Nikki Dominiak (B.S. Biology '07) has enetered the UT College of Medicine which had awarded her a Presidential Scholarship (to cover tuition/ fees for 4 years of medical school).  (posted August 2007)
  • Five students from Salford University in England arrived on campus August 8, 2006. UT students will leave for Salford University on September 10, 2006. For more information on this exchange program visit the UT-Salford Exchange Program website. (posted July 2006)  

Kimberly Morton, Aaronica Bivins,
and Ahmed Giwa

  • Aaronica Bivins, Ahmed Giwa and Kimberley Morton were named Glenn-Stokes Fellows for 2006-2007. The Glenn-Stokes Research Internship Program named in honor of John Glenn (Ohio Senator and Astronaut) and Louis Stokes (Ohio Congressman) is designed to better prepare students for and to encourage them to pursue careers in science and technology. Students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) are matched with faculty members at one of the fifteen participating institutions including UT. Diamond Harris (UT BS'06) was a past Glenn-Stokes Fellow. (posted July 2006) 

             

Rachael Sullivan, Crissy Stewart,
and Elizabeth Lawlor

  • Founders Scholars at the May 2006 graduation L-R Rachael Sullivan, Crissy Stewart and Elizabeth Lawlor.  Rachael and  Elizabeth went to Salford for their junior year. Rachel is pursuing her MD at Ohio State University. Crissy Stewart was awarded a President's Scholarship to pursue her MD at the College of Medicine at University of Toledo. Elizabeth will pursue a Master's in Public Health at George Washington University before joining the Peace Corps. (posted May 2006)

Ed Briercheck, and Patricia Komuniecki

  •  Ed Briercheck was the departmental nominee for the Outstanding A&S Undergraduate Award. He was recognized with the Dean's Medal Award at a special Arts and Sciences commencement ceremony. (posted May 2006)  
     

Arts and Sciences Dean Sue Ott Edwards

  • Nikko Ronquillo was recognized with a special award given at the Arts & Sciences Honors Ceremony on May 6th. This award is in memory Emeritus Professor Harold Shaffer to an Arts & Sciences student exemplifying a sprit of dedication and caring for others. (posted May 2006)  

Ed Briercheck

  • Senior Ed Briercheck finished the legendary Boston Marathon on April 16, 2006 just one hour and two minutes behind the first-place male runner. Briercheck qualified for the Boston Marathon in November 2004 at a race in Athens, Greece, during his study abroad program. See UT news story. (posted April 2006)
