My goal is to be the very best undergraduate teacher that I can possibly be. In my mind that means instead of merely teaching content for students to memorize, I work to help students learn to think. I want them to think of images of proteins, cells, genes and not just of their definitions. I want them to be able to understand the mechanisms or causes of biological events and not just that events happen. I want them to be able to explain, in their own words, what they know.
The result of Dr. Creutz’s efforts? He won the University Outstanding Teacher of the Year award in 1995 and has been recognized as a Master Teacher of The College 1993-1997 and 2001-2006, and was recently recognized by ‘Ohio Magazine’ as one of the best 100 college teachers in the state of Ohio.
Biology and Medical Technology students contact him for advising.
