Internships in: Santiago, Chile; Heredia, Costa Rica; Pau, France; Lüneburg, Germany; and Alicante, Bilbao/Getxo, and Madrid, Spain. The internships are designed to complement the academic program. As a result, interns receive a maximum of three credits but no financial compensation. The schedule and number of work hours will be determined by the schedule of USAC courses.
Eligibility: minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and junior standing at time of internship, plus the following requirement(s):
Chile: Track IV level of Spanish
Costa Rica: Track IV level of Spanish; for chemistry majors
France: 4 semesters of French; spring semester only

To provide young American and Canadian graduate students with internships in the Bavarian State Ministries or the Bavarian State Chancellery. 2 candidates per year will be chosen from the fields of public administration, political science, or international relations. o EMGIP (Émigré Memorial German Internship Program)
To provide internship opportunities for U.S. and Canadian students to complete one- to three-month internships with German state parliaments and ministries.
Eligibility: US citizenship; maximum age of 30; 2 years of college-level German or equivalent; the equivalent of junior status; major in international relations, political studies, etc., with an emphasis on Germany or German; practical experience
Cost: $300 administration fee
o Internship Program - Germany
To provide training opportunities (paid placements) in Germany for American students and young professionals in business, technical, and engineering fields. Duration: up to 18 months.
Eligibility: US citizenship; maximum age of 30; 2 years of college-level German or equivalent; the equivalent of junior status; major in business, technical fields, or international relations or German (with business or engineering background); practice experience in the desired field.
Cost: $700 for program fee
Deadline: Rolling - apply 5 months prior to desired start date.
o The Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship
Eligibility: US citizenship; Ages 23-34; a graduate degree and professional experience in business administration, economics, journalism or mass communications, law, political science or public affairs/policy. Candidates lacking a graduate degree are nevertheless encouraged to apply, provided they possess extensive professional experience in the above fields. Ability to communicate well in German required.

o Schott Summer Internship Program
To provide training opportunities (paid placements) at Schott Glass in Mainz, Germany, for American students (completed junior year) and recent grads in business/marketing & sales, engineering, information technology and physical sciences. Language training will also be provided if necessary.
Eligibility: US citizenship; maximum age of 30; 1 year of college-level German or equivalent; the equivalent of senior status; major Marketing/Sales, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, electrical engineering with majors in communication technology, physical and material sciences; practical experience in the desired field preferred.

o Studentenservice International
This internship program offers students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain professional experience abroad through three seminars and a nine-month internship in one of the Studentenwerke (Student Service Organizations) at German universities.

o EMGIP (Émigré Memorial German Internship Program)
Offers internship opportunities for U.S. and Canadian students to complete two-month internships in the German parliament, the Bundestag.
Eligibility: US citizenship; maximum age of 32; fully fluent in German; advanced undergraduates or graduate students; major in international relations, political studies, etc.
Deadline: 17 November
o RISE (Research Internships in Science and Engineering)
Gives students in the fields of Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Geology, and Physics the chance to spend a summer working with German doctoral students on serious research projects. The doctoral students help integrate the undergraduate directly into the lab work and serve as personal and professional mentors. All participants receive stipends from DAAD to help cover living expenses, and the partner universities and research institutions provide housing assistance.
Eligibility: US citizenship; at least junior status; must be continuing study (as undergraduate or graduate) upon completing of internship

The DeutschAkademie offers intensive German courses in small groups for all levels, with flexible course times. Preparatory courses for diverse language certificates (e.g. Zertifikat Deutsch, TestDaF) are also offered. Students studying in Germany have a variety of living accomodations to choose from (host families, flats, or student residences) in Munich.
<![endif]>GACC (German-American Chamber of Commerce)
The GACC Career Services provides qualified American candidates with challenging training program opportunities in Germany.
The GACC will: assist in locating housing in Germany; assist in the procurement of a residency and work permit for Germany; and advise on health insurance requirements. Trainees must have reasonable German language skills; part of the application process is an oral interview that is conducted in German. Training program offers are mainly within the area of business and engineering.
Cost: Placement fee of between $515 and $1,015, depending on the status of the trainee as well as the length of training.
