: Great Lakes Roundtable

On April 21st, 2008, the Honorable George V. Voinovich visited the Lake Erie Center to take part in a roundtable discussion that examined the health of the Great Lakes.  A number of speakers led the panel discussion, including:

• Dr. Jeff Reutter, Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Lab, The Ohio State University
• Andy Buchsbaum, National Wildlife Federation, Great Lakes Natural Resources Center
• Rick Brewer, Ashtabula River Partnership 
• Kurt Erichsen, TMACOG
• Dr. Daryl Dwyer, University of Toledo, Lake Erie Center
• John Hull, P.E., BCEE, Hull & Associates, Inc. 

Following the presentations, there was a significant amount of informal conversation regarding the health of Lake Erie.  Specifically, the audience discussed with the panel issues related to algae blooms, open lake disposal, and sedimentation.  Approximately 50 people attended the discussion.
