William McMillen, Ph.D., joined the office of the president as assistant to the president at the previous Medical College of Ohio in 1982. Dr. McMillen came from Bowling Green State University where he had worked for a number of years as a faculty member and administrator. He received his doctorate from Ohio University in 1976.

Dr. McMillen currently serves as vice president for government relations.

As vice president for government relations he coordinates the institution's political activities in Toledo, at the statehouse in Columbus, and in Washington. These activities include overseeing relations with the Ohio Board of Regents and tracking budget and education legislation.
