University of Toledo Health Science Campus Academic Enrichment Outreach

The following outreach programs are coordinated by Robyn A. Gandy, Ph.D. (robyn.gandy@utoledo.edu), Director of the Academic Enrichment Center at The University of Toledo Health Science Campus.

    DeVeaux Junior High School

In January 2006, a program was developed and implemented between the University of Toledo Health Science Campus Academic Enrichment Center and DeVeaux Junior High School to help build the pipeline between The University of Toledo Health Science Campus (UTHSC) and Toledo Public Schools.  The primary focus of this program is to teach study skills, acceptance of individual differences, and to expose underrepresented minority students and students from disadvantaged backgrounds to various medical and science programs at The University of Toledo. Students from UTHSC serve as role models in these sessions.

Lourdes College – Waite and Woodward High School Upward Bound Program

Since June 2006, the Lourdes College Upward Bound Program administrators have reached out to the UTHSC Academic Enrichment Center to speak to students from Waite and Woodward High Schools in the Toledo Public School System.  The focus of these presentations are the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and how it relates to learning, study skills and to expose underrepresented minority students and students from disadvantaged backgrounds to various medical and science programs at the University of Toledo.
