Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP)
In order to attract the highest caliber of students, the UT College of Medicine Admission Office offers the SURP for pre-medical students. The purpose of the program is to introduce undergraduate students to specific scientific research as a means of encouraging them to consider a career in medicine.
SURP is an important component of the College of Medicine’s diversity initiative and is open to all students. Underrepresented minority students, students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and women are strongly encouraged to apply. There are full-time research positions available that provide a $2,500 stipend for 10 weeks of research. Opportunities for research in the areas of cardiovascular medicine, gerontology, neurology, HIV, endocrinology, orthopedic surgery, and pediatrics may be available. Students must apply by March 1 online at www.hsc.utoledo.edu/med/admissions/srp.html . Decisions are announced by April 1.
