    PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Master’s (M.Ed.) and Education Specialist (ED Spec) programs in Special Education allow students to choose among a focus in special education in the areas of early intervention, early childhood special education, high incidence conditions (e.g. learning disability, mental retardation, emotional disturbance), severe disabilities (e.g. physical, cognitive and social-emotional), vision impairment and gifted education.  All of these graduate programs can be linked to teacher certification requirements in Ohio and Michigan. The location of the university offers students opportunities to work with children/adults who have a wide range of abilities in a variety of school settings and intervention programs.

    OF SPECIAL INTEREST
Specific endorsements also may be added to current Ohio Dept. of Education teacher licenses. These endorsements include Gifted and Talented Education (grades K-12), Early Childhood Intervention Specialist (ages 3-8), which can only be added to a license in Early Childhood Education. The Transition to Work (TTW) Endorsement may be added to a special education or vocational education license. Certification from the Ohio Dept. of MR/DD as an Early Intervention Specialist (birth to age 3) is an option for persons who hold degrees in a number of different areas (e.g. education, nursing, psychology, social work, etc…).
