    Levis Leadership UT Scholarship Application

    Based on the philosophy that "leaders are made, not born," Levis Leadership UT is a selective program that enhances and nurtures leadership development within its curriculum.  Forty incoming freshman students selected for the program have the option to participate up to four years.  To be eligible for the Levis Leadership UT Program, student must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative high school GPA, a 20 ACT composite or 950 SAT combined reading and math score and demonstrated potential for leadership exhibited through high school honors, activities, community service, and etcetera.  Upon acceptance to the program, students will receive a $1,000 scholarship toward their first academic year.  The scholarship may be renewed at varying amounts for the next three years, based on the recipient's involvement in the Levis Leadership UT Program.  If you have any questions, please contact the University of Toledo, Office of Student Involvement at 419.530.4944.

    Students who participate in the Levis Leadership UT Program have the opportunity to participate in many unique experiences.  Some of the features of the Levis Leadership UT Program include:

    • Small Leadership UT courses that embrace in-depth interaction between students and instructors.
    • Innovative speakers who present information such as time management, conflict resolution, creative leadership techniques and much more.
    • Retreats that enhance teamwork and leadership development.
    • Opportunities for upper-class Leadership UT students to facilitate and mentor Leadership UT classes.

    The Levis Leadership UT Committee values the quality and diversity of experiences. Classes are chosen based on leadership experience and the ability to exhibit leadership skills in both an individual and group setting. The student´s academic record plays a minimal part in the selection‚ thus we are looking for specific skills the applicant possesses that would qualify the individual as a leader. Please provide the selection committee with the necessary information that you feel will qualify you for the Leadership UT program.


    High School Activities and Involvement: (Please list clubs‚ extracurricular activities‚ performing arts‚ athletic participation‚ etc.)

    Community and non-high school activities and involvement: (Please list volunteer experience‚ community service‚ etc.)

    Employment Experience:

     

    IV. Recommendations: Provide the name‚ address‚ title and phone number of the one individual (preferably your guidance counselor‚ teacher or faculty member) who will be submitting a written letter of recommendation.

    Essay: In the area provided‚ compose an essay not to exceed 150 words on ”Why you should be selected to participate in the Levis Leadership Program.”


    V. Transcripts: Please provide us with your most recent high school transcripts and‚ if applicable‚ transcripts from any college or university course work you have completed. Copies of official transcripts are acceptable.

    To be considered for the Levis Leadership UT Program Scholarship, you must also submit a completed application for admission to the Office of Undergraduate Admission.
